Business community embrace genU Big Day Out

MORE than 300 people packed into the AWA Alliance Stadium in Geelong to help break down barriers for people with disability at the genU Workplace Big Day Out.

The 21st edition of annual event saw the local business community take part in a series of activities including wheelchair basketball, soccer, dance, cricket and various ball sports.

Businesses were joined by the stars of the show, the genU clients and staff from within the organisation to make up teams on the day.

 

genU chief executive officer Clare Amies praised attendees for their support of the event.

“This is such a positive way to build a genuinely inclusive community.

“Our Workplace Big Day Out brings together people with disability and volunteers from the business sector in a fully supported environment.

“This promotes learning about disability, having fun and creating an exclusive opportunity for personal and professional growth.”

 

Harcourts North Geelong director Joe Grgic said the impact from events of this nature are overwhelmingly positive.

“By actively participating in genU’s initiatives, our team gain a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment through contributing to fostering a more inclusive and supportive community.
