Businesses band together to help Lorne CFA
THE Lorne CFA will soon be receiving a generous donation from ASN Events and Cumberland Lorne Resort.
ASN Events runs several conferences in Lorne each year and is presently holding them at the resort.
ASN Events project manager Jordyn Trolove said the organisation had formed a connection with the community and was subsequently eager to offer support.
“After the bushfires as a team we decided to come up with some ideas of what ASN could raise funds for. In Lorne we have five conferences that run back to back.
“ASN have worked in Lorne for about 20 years, so it’s a way to give back to the area we have done the conferences in.”
ASN Events committed to giving a dollar for each delegate who attended, and approached the various committees involved with the conferences to match the
Cumberland Lorne Resort then also committed to match the funds, with a total of $5,516 raised as a result.
Cumberland Lorne Resort general manager Richard Blackley said he was pleased the hotel could be proactive in supporting the local CFA.
“Thankfully we didn’t have any fires this year. But we wanted to make sure the local CFA got some funds so they can use it to help with whatever they need help with.”
Lorne CFA first lieutenant Lee Hollmer said he appreciated the generosity and forethought behind the donations.
“It’s huge to get these donations because it’s hard for a little brigade to go out and buy the extra equipment that is needed. So, we really appreciate these groups getting involved.”
ASN Events Staff will present Lorne CFA with the cheque on Tuesday, March 24.
