Candidates’ forum to be held tonight

TORQUAY Commerce and Tourism (TCT) and the 3228 Residents Association (3228RA) have joined forces to give the voters of South Barwon the chance tonight (Thursday, October 25) to question their candidates ahead of next month’s state election.

The two groups will jointly host the free candidates’ forum in Torquay North, and have invited five of the people who have so far publicly declared they will stand for the seat:

  • Liberal incumbent Andrew Katos
  • Labor candidate Darren Cheeseman
  • Independent candidate Damien Cole
  • Animal Justice Party candidate Peter Oseckos, and
  • Greens candidate Marion Smedley.

The candidates’ forum, supported by the Surf Coast Times, will be held at Grant Pavilion, Kuwarrk Lane, Torquay North tonight (Thursday, October 25) from 6-8pm (doors open at 5.45pm).

In other state election news, nominations for candidates open in less than a week (Wednesday, October 31).

On November 8 at noon, nominations for registered political parties close, and candidate groupings must be lodged by this date.

Independent candidate nominations close at noon on November 9.
