MORE than 2,000 people were in festive spirit at Torquay’s Carols by the Sea.

Saturday’s spectacular at Elephant Walk Park in Torquay featured good times for all ages, with children and their families hearing about the first Christmas in a comfortable and inclusive setting.

The event was again spearheaded by the local Surf Coast presbyterian churches and overseen by City on a Hill Surf Coast.

City on a Hill Surf Coast pastor Louis Glazebrook said he was blown away by how engaged the crowd was on the day.

“It was so terrific to see so many members of the Surf Coast out on the Esplanade mingling and spending time with their loved ones,” he said.

The Salvation Army band played some festive favourites on the day.

“The families were happily dancing to the Carols Bands and Salvation Army ensembles and sharing some special time together.

“This year in particular just felt so engaging. We were stoked with how intimate it was and the crowd’s willingness to hear about Jesus and the first Christmas.

“We hope to be back on the Esplanade in 2024 to do it all again.”
