SURF Coast residents and visitors will get into the Christmas spirit this month as several carol events take place across the region.

Events will start this weekend with carols beginning at Winchelsea Primary School tomorrow (Saturday, December 7) at 6pm.

Carols at the Pub will shortly follow on Sunday, December 8 when the Aireys Inlet Hotel hosts the annual community carols from 5pm.

Lorne will host its annual family friendly community carols on December 14 on the lawn in front of St Cuthbert’s Uniting Church.

Kinder and school students will participate in the event, along with special guest artists and a visit from Santa.

The Lorne event is organised by the St Cuthbert’s Uniting Church with the help of the Catholic and Anglican churches.

Event organiser Pam Plum said the carols event is popular with both locals and visitors in the area.

“It’s just before our busy season so it’s a good time for the community to catch up with each other and have a relaxing evening.

“I just love seeing all the people there and the children participating and the sense of community.”

The church recently hosted a poster competition with students from the Lorne P-12 College.

The first and second place winners will have their artworks on display, while first place features on the carols booklet.

Other Surf Coast events include Carols by the Brewery, returning for 2024 in Blackman’s Brewery’s Torquay beer garden on Monday, December 16 from 5:30pm.

People heading along to the Torquay venue are encouraged to get their friends together for a night of singing and cheer for the whole family.

The Anglesea Lions will return to the Village Green in Anglesea on December 22 for their annual Carols by Candlelight event where local children and performers will take the stage before Santa arrives.

Those heading along to the Anglesea event are asked to take their own chair and blanket for the evening, which will kick off at 7pm.

Over in Jan Juc, the Jan Juc Christmas Carols will be held at the Yellowgums Stage at Bob Pettitt Reserve on December 22.

Event-goers are encouraged to dress in their best Christmas outfits with live acts starting from 5pm.

Any proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the Bellbrae Primary School, going towards outdoor play and learning areas improvement.
