Cast a vote for community art calendar cover
PEOPLE can now view the 12 artworks selected for the 2019 Surf Coast Community Calendar and vote for a 13th to grace the cover.
A competition for places in the calendar attracted more than 80 entries from across Surf Coast Shire and all are on display at Surf Coast Arts Space in Anglesea until September 16.
A panel of judges has selected works for each month of the calendar, but a people’s choice vote from the exhibition will select another work for the cover.
Surf Coast Shire mayor David Bell, who was one of the competition judges, formally opened the exhibition and has urged people to visit and cast their votes.
“Judging was tough, given the quality and high volume of entries,” Cr Bell said.
“What particularly impressed me was the breadth of subject matter and the diversity of media used, from textile work to oils and watercolour, photography to sculpture.
“Surf Coast Shire’s artistic talent clearly runs deep and I admire those creative abilities.
“Be sure to get along to the exhibition and see for yourself – it’s time for you to be the judges and cast your votes.”
Cr Bell and shire arts development officer Julie Dyer presented certificates to the 12 winners during the opening at Surf Coast Arts Space on September 5. The winners were:
