Catch the AFL Grand Final action this weekend
LOOKING for a spot to watch the Richmond vs GWS grand final this weekend? There are a number of local pubs and venues screening the game on Saturday, September 28. Here’s a few of them:
• The Torquay Hotel (36 Bell Street, Torquay) will broadcast the game from its LED screen in the beer garden. Bookings are available for groups of six or more. The restaurant menu will be on offer all day, with a handball competition for the kids locked in as well as face painting and balloon animals.
• Bird Rock (2 Princes Terrace, Jan Juc) will host its inaugural Grand Final party this Saturday. The match will be streamed live, with patrons invited to have a kick outside during half time. There will also be a $20 beer and burger special.
• The Tin Shed – Barwon Grove Golf Club (Elliot Hall, Sheepwash Road, Barwon Heads) is serving up traditional footy grub, competitions, prizes and kids’ activities from noon this Saturday.
• The Barwon Heads Hotel (1 Bridge Road, Barwon Heads) invites locals and visitors alike to catch the Grand Final action in the beer garden. Bookings are available for groups of six or more. The pub will serve its menu all day as well as face painting, crafts and balloon animals to keep the kids busy.
• The Sporting Globe Geelong (175-177 Ryrie Street, Geelong) is throwing a huge party in honour of the footy festivities this weekend. A burger bar, bean bags, handball competition and more than 50 screens to witness the game will be on offer for patrons. Entry is free from 11am, with VIP booths also available.
• The Geelong Hotel (69 Yarra Street, Geelong) is offering its rooftop bar as a destination to catch this year’s Grand Final clash. One general admission ticket ($75) includes a premium canapes and drinks package (beer, wine and cider) from 2pm until the final siren. The game will be broadcast live across three screens and a 2.5 metre LED screen. Tickets available via facebook.com/geelonghotel.
