Cats and Bombers to play in Colac

February 16, 2018 BY

ANTICIPATION is building in Colac as the countdown to the pre-season JLT Community Series match between Geelong and Essendon continues.

Tickets for the game, which will be held on March 11 at Central Reserve, went on sale last week.

The Cats-Bombers clash – one of only two pre-season games Geelong will play in 2018 and the only one in the Geelong region – has generated interest across the community and further afield, with host Colac Otway Shire anticipating a sell-out event.

Shire mayor Joe McCracken encouraged people to get in early to give themselves the best chance to secure tickets.

“We know the community is a-buzz with excitement about the match. Council shares the enthusiasm and is thrilled to deliver this event for our community,” he said.

“With up to 10,000 people expected to fill the Central Reserve to see two of the great AFL teams, this is going to be an awesome showcase of the recently-upgraded reserve as a premier regional facility.

“The opportunity to host the match comes after Council worked closely with the AFL to highlight what our facility can offer.

“To have big name players such as Gary Ablett, Patty Dangerfield and Dyson Heppell running out on the ground really is a huge accomplishment for our region.

“We hope as many of our local community as possible get to witness the occasion for themselves.”
