Cats fans set to sail
PORT Phillip Ferries’ popular ‘Footy Ferries’ are back for tomorrow night’s game between the Geelong Cats and the Richmond Tigers at the MCG.
Footy fans will be able to set sail from Geelong’s Cunningham Pier, to Victoria Harbour at the Docklands for the match. The service will leave at 4:30pm and arrive in Melbourne by 6:05pm.
Port Phillip Ferries marketing manager Brad Wright said the team had been rapt with community support for the ferries this year.
“The Footy Ferry we ran last month for the Bombers game sold-out, so Cats fans should get in early, as they are starting to become very popular and will sell out.
“We’ve had some feedback from fans using the service that they need more time to get to the MCG, so with that in mind, we are leaving Geelong a bit earlier for the Richmond game so it’s not so much of a rush for the fans to get to their seats in time.
“The Footy Ferry is also a return service tonight, so fans can get back home on the ferry leaving Docklands at 11.30 pm… and being a Friday night game, they can just ease into the weekend, hopefully with a win under their belts.”
Wright said the ferry will include the perks and creature comforts travelers won’t get by driving, including a licensed bar on board, comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, charging stations and easy ferry accessibility for people of all abilities.
