THE Nigro family is ready to embrace a new life chapter following the sale of the much-loved Anglesea News and Lotto.

Paul and Corinne Nigro will embark on some of their own travelling and other work commitments for the foreseeable future.

The pair has run the community hub for the past 10 years.

Under their leadership, Anglesea News and Lotto won My Local Community Newsagent of the Year in 2022 and has been a finalist for Victorian Newsagent of the Year on multiple occasions.

Ms Nigro was also crowned Victorian Businesswoman of the Year in 2024.

Before their time in Anglesea, the pair ran newsagents in Torquay and in inner Melbourne.

Ms Nigro said the sale was both exciting, and sad at the same time.

“It’s mixed emotions, for sure.

The much-loved pair said they are excited and sad to be moving on.

“We are going into our 10th year here and it’s been a huge part of our life.

“Our staff and our customers are like a second family to us. It’s bittersweet.

“I don’t know if we are quite ready, but we are in a way from the commitment of a seven-day business.”

She said they looked forward to some relaxing beach time and doing “what normal people do on a nice day”.

The town’s football and netball club will also take up plenty of their time, with Paul continuing in his role as president and Corinne aiming to be even more involved.

She said seeing all the smiling faces each day would be the part she’d miss the most.

“The people – customers, staff and community will be missed dearly.

“Luckily though, we will retain it through the football and netball club, and the local traders’ association.

“Gladly for us, we won’t be strangers here. It’s hard to leave something you love so much.”

Handover with the new owners from Armstrong Creek will take place over the next fortnight.
