THE Charlemont Rise Shopping Centre opened its doors at the weekend, welcoming the community into the space.

The Woolworths supermarket held its official opening on Thursday last week, while the rest of the shopping centre celebrated with a family fun day on Saturday.Attendees were treated to a Thomas the Tank Engine Ride, petting zoo, mini golf, CFA fire truck, free barbecue and more.

Sullivan enjoyed feeding the goat at the petting zoo.

Located on the corner of Horseshoe Bend and Precinct Road in the Charlemont Rise development, the centre is anchored by Woolworths Charlemont Rise, which showcases an extensive range of Australian fruit and vegetables, with a dedicated organic produce section and an Odd Bunch range.

Customers can choose from a selection of 100 per cent Australian beef and an array of fresh seafood from the fish market.

The full production bakery offers fresh stone baked bread made from Australian wheat flour, as well as pastries and cakes prepared daily by the bakery team.

Paul McEvoy took kids around the shopping centre on the Thomas the Tank Engine train.

The store also features a large Macro Wholefoods market offering, a selection of plant-based protein and a dedicated range of gluten-free goods, plus a cheese room.

More than 120 new team members have been employed at the new store, with 60 never having worked at Woolworths before.

Snap Fitness 24hr Gym will be one of the tenants at the new shopping centre.

Store manager Mick Eltze, who has worked with Woolworths for 25 years, was previously the store manager when Woolworths reopened its Newtown in 2022.

“Our team is incredibly excited to open a brand new contemporary fresh food offering for Charlemont locals, with an extensive range of groceries to choose from across all departments in the store,” he said.

The 24 specialty tenancies at the shopping centre also include takeaway food, beauty services, medical centre, Pilates studio and more.

There are 241 carparks, including undercover options, with a six-bay drive through click and collect for Woolworths.

The project was developed by D.B.S Commercial and built by Maben group over 14 months.
