Christmas bauble rolls out in Belmont

November 29, 2018 BY

Tourism and events portfolio chair Cr Ron Nelson and Geelong mayor Bruce Harwood with the Belmont Christmas bauble.

IT’S beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Belmont, with the City of Greater Geelong installing a large bauble at ground level near the Belmont library.

The bauble is one of a number of new Christmas decorations appearing across the region this year.

The walk-through Christmas bauble was designed specifically for that location and will be illuminated at night, adding to the festive feel for the Belmont community.

The installation is just one of several Christmasrelated activities taking place from now right up until Christmas Day.

The giant floating Christmas tree on the Geelong waterfront next to the carousel is arguably the centrepiece, with light shows happening every 15 minutes every night from 8.30pm until January 7.

Geelong’s biggest Christmas street party, Christmas in the Grove, will be hosted by the Ocean Grove Business Association on The Terrace on December 5. It will feature children’s Christmas activities, food and wine, and lots of Christmas shopping specials.

Several community groups will be holding Christmas carol events, including Carols at Leopold at the Leopold Primary School on December 8, Carols in the Hills at the Barrabool Hills Baptist Church on December 9, Highton Carols in the Park at Highton Reserve on December 16 and Portarlington Community Christmas Carols at Foreshore Park on December 20.
