NEARLY 120 moviegoers got into the Yuletide spirit early at Anglesea Memorial Hall as the Anglesea Movie Club hosted its Christmas in July event.

Anglesea Movie Club president Evelyn Wuchatsch said the club’s members and guests attended last Friday’s event in a variety of festive Christmas get-ups.

“We probably average between 80 to 90 people at our film showings, but recently we have been getting a big increase in members.

“Surprisingly in the winter months, we’ve had over 120 people at each of the last four movie nights, so we’re seeing our group’s size increase and last weekend’s event was an example of that.”

Attendees at the movie night dressed as Santa Claus and Christmas elves, while there was one member who arrived riding Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Anglesea Memorial Hall was also lined with Christmas lights, Christmas trees, and full of festive cheer.

More than 120 people attended the screening of Love Actually.

The night was headlined by the screening of Christmas film classic Love Actually, with a star-studded cast including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson.

Ms Wuchatsch said non-members are welcome to join the club with five movie nights still to take place this year.

Membership is open to the Anglesea, Aireys Inlet and surrounding community at a subscription rate of $77 per year ($66 for concession card holders – pension and health care).

Club membership provides access to one movie per month at the Anglesea Memorial Hall from February to November on the third Friday of each month at 6pm.

Anglesea Memorial Hall was lined with Christmas decorations on the night.

The club supplies food and beverages at movie nights, and members are provided with two guest passes per year.
