COGG introduces online pet registration tool

August 15, 2019 BY

Greater Geelong pet owners can now register and renew their animals for council’s record online.

WITH over 45,000 pets in the region, the City of Greater Geelong has introduced an online tool that enables pet owners to register and renew their animals for council’s records.

The move was outlined in the city’s Domestic Animal Management Plan and came into effect last week.

By law, pet owners are required to register their cats or dogs with their local council when the pet is three months of age.

City of Greater Geelong director of planning and development Gareth Smith said the city has one of the largest domestic animal populations of any Victorian community.

“We know how valued pet ownership is to our residents,” he said.

“We encourage residents to use the new service of registering new pets online. This is another example of how we are always looking at ways to make processes easier for our customers.”

Owners who register their pets will receive individualised tags for each registered pet, access to pound and shelter facilities; and pet resources such as the Pet app and SMS notifications.

Registered animals will also be eligible for the city’s annual discounted cat de-sexing offer.

You can register new pets online here. If you have a myGeelong account, you can also pay your registration renewal online.
