Come to Torquay for a dad’s night in

March 5, 2020 BY

Nick Guyett will be one of the speakers at the Dad’s Night In.

WITH three boys aged three and under, Nick Guyett has three times the fatherhood stories to share.

It’s what he’ll be doing on Tuesday, March 10, when he is part of a panel at Dad’s Night In – a free event organised by the Surf Coast Shire council.

Mr Guyett – a dad to a three-year-old and one-year-old twins – will join host of The Dad Mindset podcast Rich Bolus, Dads Group state manager Adam Tardif and The Man Walk Geelong’s Chris Lytas on the panel. The group will share their experiences of fatherhood with guests, who can also participate in a question-and-answer session with two of Council’s Maternal and Child Health nurses.

Mr Guyett encouraged local fathers with young children to attend the Dad’s Night In evening at Ocean Grind café in Torquay.

“It will be a casual gathering and a great chance to connect with others,” the Surf Coast Shire council resilient communities officer said.

“It’s a diverse panel, who I’m sure will offer interesting insights.

“Fatherhood is full of highs and lows. The highs are wonderful, but there are some tough times too. Everyone’s experience varies, but there are some commonalities so we should be making the most of opportunities like this to reach out and share. It makes the fun bits even more fun, and helps share the burden of the harder times.”

Mr Guyett has shared his parenthood journey previously at Baby Makes 3 – a council pilot program which supports local first-time parents.

“Becoming a parent is such a whirlwind, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to help others going through it,” he said. “I think programs and events that enable parents to hear other people’s first-hand experiences are incredibly beneficial, which is why I’m keen to be involved.”

Dad’s Night In will be held at Ocean Grind, 10B Sawmills Way, Torquay, on Tuesday, March 10 from 7pm. Light supper and hot drinks will be provided. RSVPs are not required.
