Committee For Lorne: COMMUNITY CALENDAR - New online community events calendar for Lorne

The Lorne Community House provides many opportunities to learn, socialise and connect with the community.

In order for people to easily access these possibilities, the Community House has recently launched a new online calendar to showcase all of the wonderful courses and groups available. With a handy function to narrow the search to your interest areas, you can find the right activity to suit your needs and your schedule. Whether it be yoga, playgroup, drumming or an RSA accreditation, this calendar now provides a one-stop-shop to discover activities, groups and courses to spark your interest.

As well as displaying events taking place at the Community House, this calendar is also available for the promotion of community events being organised by other groups in the area.

For the township of Lorne with a small permanent population, the number of events, workshops and opportunities for our community to come together is immense. However, the disappointment of hearing of a fabulous community get together after the event can be disheartening, as can be planning an occasion only to find that it clashes with another at the same time.

This was the motivation for providing community groups with the opportunity to submit event information for inclusion in the online calendar. The importance of connectedness cannot be overlooked for the overall wellbeing of a community, and this new calendar goes a long way to addressing this issue.

The calendar is available for promoting events taking place within the Lorne Community Hospital catchment area, which includes Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Wye River, Deans Marsh and all the other small communities in between. To be eligible for inclusion in the calendar, the event needs to be open to the general public and be of broad appeal to the community. It’s an exciting step forward that there’s now one easy place to get an overview of everything happening within the community.
