Committee For Lorne: LORNE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

April 25, 2018 BY

Together we can build a healthier community

The Lorne Community Hospital is a not for profit charity that raises money to enable the Hospital to provide great healthcare and grow and develop innovative services across our region.

The Hospital’s Annual Appeal brings all sectors of our community together to raise funds towards the extra services, equipment and programs that are not covered by government funding.

For the 2018 Annual Appeal, the Hospital’s clinical staff were asked to identify two needs; one need with immediate impact, and one need with long-term impact.

Equipment and Facilities Fund

To provide great care in our urgent care department, the clinical staff have requested the need for a portable resus monitor to enable rapid reporting in critical conditions. The flexible bedside monitor meets changing patient acuity and care area needs, as well as maintaining all functions during intra-hospital transport. This important life-saving equipment provides continuous patient monitoring every step of the way.

Acute Nurse Unit Manager, Jason Phieler said “this piece of equipment is vital in the care of critically ill patients. It allows us to continually monitor their vital signs and cardiac rhythm, whilst stabilising them for transfer.”

We continually need your help to maintain our facilities and equipment, to provide greater comfort for patients and enable our staff to deliver safer and efficient care that improves patient outcomes.

Active Community Fund

Keeping our community active is one of the Hospital’s key goals. Research has proven that sedentary and low levels of exercise were significantly higher amongst people from regional and remote areas. Funds raised this year will go directly towards our ‘active services’, such as increasing community exercise classes, activities, education and our gymnasium expansion.

“We are passionate about empowering clients to take control of their health through education and exercise plans.

“Our aim is to facilitate and support great initiatives and projects that will help to make our surrounding communities a great place to live and work”, Campbell Craig LCH Exercise Physiologist said.

In the past the community’s response to the annual appeal has been incredible. Funds raised have injected money into the Wye River/Separation Creek bush fire appeal, mental health initiatives, facilitating changes to the in-home delivery of services to keep seniors healthy in their own homes plus training for staff and vital equipment.

For many decades the Lorne Community Hospital has directly responded to the contemporary needs of its coastal communities and your donation to this 2018 appeal will help us to continue to be there for you.
