Committee for Lorne – LORNE WOMEN’S GOLF JANUARY 2019

February 13, 2019 BY

The Peak Restaurant Opening at the Country Club, was a fun night with a casual fashion parade of outfits from local traders Coastal Diva, Gazman, and Vic and Bert. It was well supported by our locals who enjoyed the ambience of the newly renovated Peak, with reasonably priced, good food. We hope to get other businesses on board for the coming year. Check out the photos of some of the models for the night!

The annual 9 Hole Summer Classic Competition, a mixed event, was played over January. Organised by Marion and Barry Church, the comp is for members, both local and those holidaying from Melbourne. Seriously keen competitors played almost daily to submit their required 5 best cards. The final event held on January 26 was a compulsory day for all those in the Summer Classic. After golf we shared dinner and the presentation of much coveted Competition Jackets for both men and lady winners. As you will see in the photos the jackets rival the USA Masters Green Jackets and this year, once again
locals starred. The winners were Lynda Stewart, Ladies A Grade, Jenni Miller, Ladies B Grade, Jeff Thomas and Russell Jones, joint Men’s A Grade and Chris Wood, Men’s B Grade.

This very successful event provided lats of laughs at the final presentation

dinner, especially as Jeff and Russell had to share a jacket. In true Solomon style Marion and Barry Church cut the winners jacket in half! Hopefully we will have more competitors joining us next year.

The Golf season starts again in February, when we will continue to welcome new players. The Women’s Comp is on Tuesday mornings, both a 9 hole and 18 hole comp. Men’s Comp is on Sunday afternoons, and now there will be a mixed 9 hole comp Friday evenings, with other mixed events to follow.

GIVE GOLF A GO DAY, on February 26, is an opportunity for anyone who has ever thought they might like to at least try golf to come up and try it out with lots of support… no cost and we will supply equipment. It will take up the morning but you can come for a shorter time too. Please tell anyone who may be interested to get in touch, particularly so we can organise clubs for you if needed.

The Peak Restaurant will now be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday until March. The Peak may continue opening weekends if there is sufficient interest.

It will definitely be open for Easter.

Come up for a meal, just a coffee or a drink to enjoy our fabulous view. Ring the Club to make a booking or email [email protected].

Happy hitting and give us a call for further enquiries.
