COMMUNITY Bank Surf Coast have made their bus hire service available for all community groups who are in need of cheaper travel.

The Anglesea, Lorne and Winchelsea Community Bank branches have jumped on board to support the concept, which provides alterative and inclusive travel for groups across the region.

The original purpose of the Community Bank Surf Coast bus was to lessen the costs of youth and school groups to attend important functions, but the bank has opened it up to all community groups.

Community Bank Surf Coast marketing co-ordinator Kelly Turner said they were thrilled to be widening access to the bus.

“It’s great that all community groups can have access to transport to attend events, head away on end of season sports trips, field trips or seniors could use it to go on a shopping trip; it’s open to anyone.

“Everyone in the Corangamite catchment can access the bus and use it for a multitude of services.”

The bus will be run in conjunction with the Surf Coast Shire and can fit 27 people plus a driver, who will require a light rigid license.

Trips under 400km will have a flat rate of $147.50, while trips over that mileage will cost $294.50 (excluding petrol costs).

A flat fee of for $58.90 remains for youth groups and Community Bank Surf Coast is asking those groups to identify themselves as such when booking.

Prices are per booking, not per day.

The community bus can be picked up at Hesse Health in Winchelsea.

To book, contact the Surf Coast Community Bank or phone Marty Stewart at the Surf Coast Shire recreation office on 5264 9200.
