Community bus is back and booming
THE POPULAR Community Bank Surf Coast bus is back in business and available to youth groups and community organisations.
The 28-seater people mover can now be hired online by any not-for-profit groups in the Surf Coast Shire for activities of their groups.
This includes football and netball clubs, local charitable groups, schools, disability and support organisations and more.
The bus can be hired by youth groups for $75 for 24 hours and $155 for not-for-profits.
Community Bank Surf Coast branch manager Matilda Pink said groups could plan their next outing with ease and convenience.
“The Community Bank bus has become a valuable resource for Anglesea and Winchelsea, as well as the surrounding communities. By providing an affordable and locally based transportation option, it has significantly reduced costs and travel times for community groups and schools that previously couldn’t afford excursions due to the high expense of sourcing a bus from Geelong
or Colac.”
Last month, Torquay’s All Aboard DisABILITY Support Services used the bus to run its urban camp to Melbourne.
Founder Kate Marshall said the ease of hiring the 28-seater was second to none.
“We used the bus for our weekend camp and it was just amazing.
“We’d usually have to take a little 12-seater and an extra vehicle to fit luggage, but this time we were able to fit all our campers and gear in the
one bus.
“Being all together in the one vehicle made it a great sociable experience for all.
“We definitely recommend it and will be using it again.”
The bus is provided to the hirer with a full tank of petrol and must be returned with a full tank of petrol and in a clean condition.
Penalties apply for late return, fuel not filled up and cleaning fees if required.
The Community Bank Surf Coast bus can be picked up and dropped off at Hesse Rural Health in Winchelsea. Book online at surfcoast.vic.gov.au/Community/Community-transport/Hiring-the-Community-Bus
