Compact SUV range bolstered at Mercedes-Benz Geelong

August 20, 2020 BY

The first-ever GLB and new Mercedes-Benz GLA now available.

Mercedes-Benz has completed the regeneration of its compact vehicle family with the arrival of the new Mercedes-Benz GLA crossover SUV. The GLA joins the all new GLB, which brings to six the number of models in the Mercedes-Benz compact car portfolio, which also includes the A-Class hatch and sedan, B-Class and CLA Coupé. The GLB is the first compact vehicle from Mercedes-Benz to offer a third row making it a seven-seat model as standard.

Buyers will be spoilt for choice when choosing either a compact car or SUV with Mercedes-Benz now also offering six different models in their SUV range.

Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, responsible

for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales says, “Every third Mercedes-Benz is now an SUV, every fourth a compact car. So a compact SUV such as the GLB blends all the success factors of our two highest-volume segments.”

“The high demand for our SUVs shows that we can offer the right model for all of our customers in this segment. To meet their wishes, the range includes the GLB and GLA, two off-roaders that ideally complement each other: the GLB is the most functional and most spacious representative of our compact-class family, while the new GLA is positioned as its sporty brother and as a lifestyle-oriented SUV.”

Models in both the GLA and GLB range will be packed with the usual safety features of a Mercedes-Benz

such as Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Assist. The 250 models in both vehicles are equipped with 4MATIC, the all-wheel-drive system that shuffles power to where it’s most needed and will offer the Off-Road Engineering Package as standard.
