WARM weather did not stop more than 80 teams from competing in this year’s Hells Bells Mixed Pairs Cross Fit competition.

On Saturday and Sunday, competition organisers welcomed participants of levels to join the friendly environment.

In teams of two, participants had to complete a series of workouts, at times having to synchronise movements, with one workout taking them down and into the water.

After three years of being on the Surf Coast, the competition is one of the biggest local events, attracting sell-out numbers from competitors all over the state, South Australia and even a couple from Switzerland who stumbled across the event.

Competition director Danny Russell said teams were well catered for in terms of the heat and it was an awesome two days of competition.

“The weekend itself was probably our best comp yet, it ran smoothly, all the athletes loved it and we’ve had some pretty amazing feedback already.”

More than 80 teams took part in the event, battling it out across four divisions.

Mr Russell believes one of the things that made their local competition so good is people participating for pride.

“We’re here for chilled-out vibes, to come and have some fun with your mates, do some competing, we’re not here for sheep stations, we’re all about the friendliness, we’re all about the coastal vibes and just having a great time.”

The competition was broken up into four divisions, dependent on the participants’ experience levels – Everyday, Masters 40+, Intermediate and RX.

In the full-scale RX Division, the race came down to the wire as two teams battled it out in the final workout.

A tie in the final workout saw team Lekker Imports from Melbourne take out the division based on placing.

The Everyday Division saw Langeslayers win first place, The Replacements took out the Masters 40+ Division, and the Other Half Limber, Half Lanky emerged victorious in the Intermediate Division.

The competition is slated to return in 2026 on January 3 and January 4.
