Concept drawings of The Sands upgrade revealed

January 14, 2021 BY

The existing entry at The Sands would have an extended roofline.

THE Sands resort in Torquay has not officially changed hands yet, but residents in the surrounding estate have had a sneak peek at part of the proposed redevelopment.

Last week, The Sands Community website posted black-and-white concept drawings of the reception entrance and bar and members’ area at the hotel and golf course.

When completed the new extended roofline will provide protection from the weather and “also add a strong visual impact”.

The bar will be relocated and increased in size.

The proposed bar and members’ area will see the bar significantly increased in size, moved from its existing position and relocated to a central location with “stunning views over the golf course and beyond”.

Plans are also under way for a new bistro area with a maximum seating capacity of up to 150 people.

The golf course and hotel complex previously owned by Cloud Abacus Holdings and Odyns Holdings entered into voluntary administration in July 2020.

Receivers were appointed to sell the business one month later, with Colliers International overseeing the expressions of interest campaign.

Glenn Campbell was reported as the new owner of the resort in late November and advertisements were run in this newspaper for new staff, but the sale has not yet been finalised and Colliers International is still advertising The Sands for sale on its website.
