November 7, 2019 BY

Students, MPs and principals all eagerly anticipate the construction of Oberon High School.

CONSTRUCTION on the new home of Oberon High School in Armstrong Creek has begun.

The Belmont school’s new campus is being built at 155-175 Batten Road, and is expected to open in 2021.

The 2018-19 state budget has $3.9 million allocated to the school. Oberon also shared in the $624.8 million allocated to schools in the 2019-20 budget.

South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman said he was pleased to see work on the site begin.

“It’s tremendous to see work under way on the new Oberon High School in Armstrong Creek.

“From 2021, this state-of-the-art school will ensure students in this growing community get access to a first-class education in first class facilities.”

The high school will form part of the Armstrong Creek Education Precinct, and is being built near Armstrong Creek School – a combined primary and specialist school.

Oberon High School’s facilities will include a new library, a performing arts and physical education building, four outdoor multipurpose courts, an oval, and a specialist building for teaching science, arts and technology.

Kane Constructions have been appointed to build the new campus.
