A SHIPPING container at MOUNT Duneed Regional Primary School has been given a new look with a little help from Bunnings Warehouse and Dulux.

The hardware chain’s Waurn Ponds store teamed up with the paint manufacturer through Bunnings’ “Paint Your Community” initiative on Thursday to paint the container, which is used for storage, from a faded blue to a green matching the school’s buildings.

Mount Duneed principal Julie Makin said the original plan was to paint the school’s crest on the container, but the green helped the container to blend in with the surrounding bushland.

Julie Vine from Bunnings said the painting was the latest project the Waurn Ponds store had carried out at the school, following the installation of vegetable gardens and the ongoing creation of a sensory garden, which would be ready in about six weeks.

Dulux’s Gavin Andrews said the container would need about 12 litres of paint – equivalent to about three rooms of a house, or 40 metres of fence.

He said he had been involved in half a dozen “Paint Your Community” painting projects with Bunnings stores recently, including at the St Albans Town Hall and in Horsham, and the community groups and schools involved appreciated the help.
