March 31, 2016 BY

A CONTRACT has been awarded to rebuild an important bridge for the Separation Creek community on the Great Ocean Road.
The $1.5 million works by Ace Infrastructure on the Boggaley Creek Bridge, north of Separation end of the year (subject to weather).
Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson welcomed the announcement last week, saying it would provide a safer journey for motorists for all Great Ocean Road travellers and that the works Contract awarded to build bridge would be a boost for the local community hit by “The Great Ocean Road communities have shown great resilience since the Christmas Day “Today’s announcement is another sign of the Australian Government’s commitment to them by delivering the infrastructure this region needs.
“These works will involve rebuilding the existing single span bridge and upgrading the road to eliminate potholes and rough areas. Eleven concrete slabs, nine metres in length, will replace 20 beams to form the new bridge crossing.”
She said the project was part of the federal and Victorian governments’ jointly funded $50 million Great Ocean Road upgrade, but more funding was needed.
“Further investment is required for both the road itself and important tourism infrastructure, including better facilities at the Moggs Creek Arch and Kennett River.”
