Corinne takes the cake at newsagent awards
LOCAL businesswoman Corinne Nigro has been lauded for her dedication to the newsagent industry and been awarded statewide honours.
Ms Nigro was crowned the Victorian Businesswoman of the Year at the Victorian Authorised Newsagent Association (VANA) Awards on Saturday evening.
The VANA Awards were held at the Melbourne Arts Centre and celebrated local newsagents and providers from across the state in a multitude
of categories.
Ms Nigro said she was absolutely shocked to receive the honour.
“I felt so honoured and grateful for being nominated. I was shocked when my name was called out as I was in very good company with the other,
worthy nominees.
“Of course, I wanted to thank my man Paul for helping to create a great team and environment.”
Corinne and her husband Paul have owned the Anglesea News and Lotto for nine years, and previously ran shops in Torquay and Melbourne.
On top of their commitments at the newsagent, Corinne is vice-president of Business Anglesea and her husband Paul is president of the Anglesea Football Netball Club.
“The key to our success is loving what we do and having exceptional staff and having amazing support from family, friends, suppliers and of course from the local community,” she said.
“Sometimes, I don’t know how we do it, but things seem to fall into place when you love what you’re doing and by the people you are surrounded by.”
Anglesea News and Lotto was a finalist in the Victorian Newsagent of the Year and My Local Community Newsagent of the Year categories.
Anglesea News and Lotto is at 89 Great Ocean Road, Anglesea.
