Dance free with Tinkerballerinas

TO CELEBRATE Tinkerballerinas’ fifth birthday a new under five movement and dance school is coming to the Surf Coast.

For two weeks, as part of birthday celebrations, Tinkerballerinas are opening up their dance floors and offering free classes to all newbies under five, starting this Saturday (April 14).

Little movers can choose from TinkerYOGA, TinkerACRO, TinkerTAP, TinkerBBOYS, TinkerJAZZ and the ever popular TinkerBALLERINAS.

Principal and Tinkerballerina Kim Fraser said the free lessons will introduce the youngsters to the fundamentals of style whilst providing a safe and fun place to learn and grow.

Ms Fraser said TinkerYOGA is a beautiful introduction to the poses, asanas and mindfulness practices of Yoga; a tradition thousands of years old that helps connect the minds to the body and spirit.

Classes will be fun and interactive and specifically designed for three- to five-year-olds as teachers lay the foundations of yoga to inspire confidence in little ones.

TinkerACRO is a fun and upside-down kind of class for girls and boys who really want to roll, bend, stretch and flip even if they haven’t quite worked out how to yet.

With safety at the forefront of teachers’ minds, TinkerACRO focuses on gross motor skills while teaching little ones how to find balance, coordination, strength and flexibility.

TinkerJAZZ is explosive (think Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars), think little groovers who can’t help rocking out to the beat every time a tune comes on.

With a focus on enhancing co-ordination and finding the beat, TinkerJAZZ uses the latest radio songs (combined with old time children’s favorites) to teach the beginning of kicks, turns, slides and leaps.

TinkerBALLERINAS is a beautiful, warm ballet class that engages the imagination and bodies of the Surf Coast’s littlest ballerinas and dancers; using traditional ballet music, props and stories to introduce technique in a fun and inspiring way.

TinkerB-BOYS is a b-boy class for four-year-old kinder boys and a chance for them to join with the older boys; they’ll learn how to uprock, glide, spin, flare and all round get their groove on. The boys only class is a great community of boys who support and challenge one another to get better every week.

TinkerTAP is the showman’s dance class. A little Broadway star who likes to shimmy across the room with taping feet and fabulous jazz hands and one of the cutest things you’ll ever see.
