AN Anglesea choir group will celebrate the life of late Anglesea resident Dean Lobbe, who passed away suddenly in April, in a special performance this Friday (June 23) at the Anglesea Hotel.

Anglesea Community Rock Choir is inviting the community to join its pub singing event this week with all funds being donated to Mr Lobbe’s family “Love the Lobbes” appeal.

Choir co-coordinator and musician Mark Huglin said the choir event will provide a positive and lively atmosphere, as Dean himself would have wanted it.

“I knew Dean personally through the Anglesea Football Netball Club when I was my kids’ team manager from Under 10’s to Under 18’s, so I had direct contact with Dean on a weekly basis,” Mr Huglin said.

“This event is our way of giving back to the family of the man that gave us so much. It might be an emotional occasion on the night, but it really is a celebration of his life.

“He was always a person anyone could talk to if they had any problems, it drastically affected the community when he passed in April.”

The chorus begins at 7.30pm led by Choir Director Lucy O’Grady, who will arrange a popular song and teach it in multipart harmony.

The night will culminate with a full performance from the Anglesea Community Rock Choir.

Choir musician and Mr Lobbe’s neighbour Jan Weate said the choir is more than happy to help out the Lobbe Family wherever they can.

“I lived next to Dean on Anglesea’s Fifth Avenue prior to his passing and when I went to Dean’s service, there would have been a thousand people there, a true reflection on what he meant to the Anglesea community,” Ms Weate said.

“I’m looking forward to the event, because we get to reflect on Dean in the joyous manner he was known for.”

People attending the event will be asked to pay a $10.00 entry fee with all proceeds going to Dean Lobbe’s family appeal.
