Deans Marsh gets into the Christmas spirit
CAROLERS and market stalls will come together this Sunday for the Deans Marsh Twilight Carols and Market.
Around 18 market stalls featuring produce, wine, food, gifts and more will be on site for the afternoon and into the evening.
Attendees will also be able to sing along to the Christmas Carols performed by the local choir and students from the Deans Marsh Primary School.
Deans Marsh Cottage Coordinator Caroline Shelbourne said the event is a celebration for the end of the year, and a way to bring the community together before Christmas.
“We want to support local producers and try and encourage locals to buy local gifts.
“Last year we had it mid-December, this year we’ve got it at the end of November so that we can get in before people have brought their gifts.”
Santa will also be in attendance, arriving on a fire truck ready to greet all the children with icy poles.
This year’s event will be held at the Pavilion, within the Deans March Recreation Reserve, allowing people to be able to shop the market while the carols take place on the stage.
Tiffany Eckhardt has been working with the carolers ahead of the event.
“It’s just about getting the community together and having a good time, and that’s what the choir is all about too, is just building connection between people and hopefully a bunch of mums and dads will come down and get the whole community to come to the market.”
The Christmas event is supported by a grant from the Surf Coast Shire and will run from 2.30pm until 6.30pm.
