Deans Marsh PS salutes diversity
DEANS Marsh Primary School hosted a “Cultural Celebration Day” on Wednesday June 19, giving students, teachers, families, and community members the opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures of the world.
The festivities kicked off with a traditional Aboriginal smoking ceremony and welcome before students participated in African drumming, flamenco dancing, Italian cooking, Indonesian art and Indigenous sports.
Students attended school dressed in sombrero hats and kimonos to learn about multiculturalism and the differing traditions from country to country.
The celebration day marked the end of the school’s Term 2 inquiry unit of work titled “A Ticket Around the World”.
