THE Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority’s (GORCAPA) conservation management efforts have been given a major upgrade, signing a new lease of a depot at 15 Arthur Court in Apollo Bay.

The depot becomes GORCAPA’s base for its conservation and coastal operations teams, putting them in a better position to protect and manage land on the coastline.

“This new depot is a game-changer, providing the resources we need to continue delivering on our land management responsibilities with greater efficiency and safety,” coastal operations manager Caleb Hurrell said.

“We carefully evaluated several locations for the new depot, and we’re thrilled to have secured a site that meets our operational needs while offering our team an improved working environment.

“It’s a fantastic way to close out 2024 on a positive note, and we’re looking forward to kicking off 2025 with improved facilities to help care for our iconic coastline.”

The current depot at the Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve Depot was deemed not fit-for-purpose for coastal operations, prompting GORCAPA to make the move.

The Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve depot supports operations at the Marengo Family Caravan Park and Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve Caravan Park.

The new depot facilitates operational improvements, better traffic management, better chemical management and improved overall efficiency.
