Design firm listed as finalist in GBEAs
CREATIVE design firm Gecsek A+I is quickly making its mark in the business community and after only 18 months of operation has been named a finalist in the 2024 Geelong Business Excellence Awards, sponsored by LBW Business + Wealth Advisors.
Led by young local entrepreneur Maddy Gecsek, the business specialises in creative, sustainable and modern home design.
Gecsek A+I’s services primarily include 1:1 consultations, digital downloadable products, and engaging workshops to empower clients to realise their design visions.
Ms Gecsek said the organisation’s unique selling proposition lies in its dedication to sustainability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
“Gecsek is more than a design firm. We are catalysts for inspired spaces, driven by passion, creativity, and a commitment to exceeding client expectation.
“From a young age, interior and building design has been a part of me.
“The business actually started as a bit of passion project and hobby during my masters studies while building my first house.
“A little conversation with the site supervisor who was building my house, stemmed into my first job of designing his home and it just evolved from there.
“I worked part-time up until seven months ago on the business, and now transforming homes is my full-time commitment. It makes me very proud.”
Ms Gecsek said the key motivation for starting Gecsek was watching people she knew struggling with their own projects.
“A lot of my friends were building and renovating homes and it just seemed like they couldn’t find the right people to trust and help bring their ideas to life.
“For me, it’s all about client and community feedback. I’ve developed a lot of my services around the people I know and the people I’ve worked with.
“I want to break away from the traditional architecture client agreement and try and bring in a new age and connect with people in different ways.”
The 27-year-old is working to complement her business further by becoming a registered architect, with the goal of achieving registration in 2025.
She said the process of becoming a finalist for the Geelong Business Excellence Awards has brought with it plenty of pride.
“Just putting in the application gave me a real great overview of my business and an understanding of my achievements, some of which I maybe skipped over.
“When you look back and reflect on it all, it’s been a really amazing journey.
“The process has helped me get out of my comfort zone, and the networking and community engagement opportunities have also been of great benefit.”
Tickets are now on sale for the 2024 Geelong Business Excellence Awards presentation event at The Pier in Geelong on October 17.
