Endurance Martial Arts first opened its doors in 2013, and this year marks a special milestone: 10 years since moving into full-time operation.

Over that decade, the club has continued to grow from strength to strength, becoming a well-respected training centre within the Surf Coast community.

Endurance MA has proudly supported athletes who have gone on to represent both Victoria and Australia in competition, while many dedicated students have achieved the significant milestone of earning their Black Belt in their chosen discipline.

At the heart of Endurance MA is a clear and consistent philosophy: to help students build self-confidence, self-discipline, and self-belief.

“It’s always been about developing life skills first,” owner and 6th Dan Taekwondo Master Alistair Lawson said.

“When students learn that hard work pays off, they become stronger leaders – not just in our centre, but out in the community.”

This vision continues to guide the club’s growth, offering a varied mixture of martial arts systems that support all students and cover all bases in self-defence scenarios, from stand-up striking through to ground defence.

Taekwondo offers speed and agility with an emphasis on kicking and movement.

Judo incorporates throws, sweeps, ground defence and pinning.

Jiu Jitsu is predominantly grappling and submissions.

Hapkido focuses on joint locks and self-defence based techniques.

In addition to its martial arts programs, Endurance MA has expanded its offerings with the introduction of Barefoot Fitness, a welcoming option for those who want to train their body and mind without the structure of gradings.

These sessions are open to everyone, from current members to the wider community, and include strength training, high intensity interval training (HIIT) in boxing and kickboxing, as well as a more relaxing stretch and flow movement class.

The aim is simple: provide accessible, enjoyable fitness that supports overall wellbeing.

Anyone is welcome to get involved and Endurance MA offers a two-week unlimited trial membership for just $22, giving full access to both martial arts and barefoot fitness programs.
