Discussion continues on women’s mental health
MORE than 100 women gathered at Mt Duneed Estate to continue the discussion about women’s mental health.
Practitioners such as Dr Niamh Logue, Dr Caroline Taylor-Walker and naturopath Karlene Georgiadis shared stories about their lives, as well as their ups and downs, and the importance of having more open and honest conversations with other women.
Hosted by Art of the Minds, the Her Story event raised funds for Mount Duneed-based organisation Foundation 61.
“This is one of many events to help educate our community about mental health,” Art of the Minds president and mental health educator Jules Haddock said.
Ms Haddock said the sold-out event was a great success as attendees listened to informative and important stories that they could take home and reflect on.
Women were also treated to an impressive grazing plate at Mt Duneed Estate and entertained by Possums on the Porch.
“Women often face unique mental health challenges in different stages of their life, such as depression or dealing with anxiety as a professional or parent,” Ms Haddock added.
“From healthy eating to regular exercise to annual check-ups, taking care of our health and wellness is of utmost importance.
“Mental health is just as important as physical health, particularly as women typically juggle many roles and responsibilities.
“More events are now in the planning, including our signature ball at Mt Duneed Estate on October 1.”
The Her Story event has now sparked interest in this year’s Mental Health and Wellbeing festival set to take place in October.
