THE Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie turned into pooch paradise last weekend for the inaugural Dog Lover’s Day.

The event invited locals to celebrate their four-legged friends with fun activities and competitions.

More than 50 dogs from across the Surf Coast entered best dressed, best trick and fastest through an obstacle course.

Prizes included specially crafted medallions made of couverture chocolate.

Sweet treats like puppacinos were another great reward for those on their best behaviour, while the dog selfie booth was given the “bark of approval.”

Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie founder Ian Neeland said the hot temperatures on the day did not deter any pooches and their owners.

Dwight the Groodle was the winner of the obstacle course.

“Our first ever Dog Lover’s Day was a great way to celebrate that our sweet destination is now dog friendly.”

The activities were so enjoyed by dog lovers from near and far, we plan to make it a regular free event on our calendar.”
