ABOUT 500 early risers gathered at Cosy Corner in Torquay on Wednesday morning for a pre-dawn silent disco that turned the shoreline into a moving, glowing dancefloor as the sun came up.

Hosted by Dawnbreak, the event invited participants to wake while most of the town slept, slip on headphones and dance through the final moments of night as the moon set and the first pastel light spread across the water.

Barefoot dancers filled the sand, moving in near silence except for the rhythm pulsing through their headsets, creating a quietly electric atmosphere as the day broke.

As the disco wrapped up, many attendees made a beeline straight for the ocean, plunging into the water as the sky continued to brighten, while others lingered for coffee, conversation and live music in the nearby park.

Local grassroots festival veteran Nightjar supplied the post-dance soundtrack, keeping the relaxed, community-focused vibe rolling well into the morning.
