Early screening of Australian film to benefit CFA
AN EARLY preview screening of Eric Bana’s latest film will be held next week at the Lorne Theatre to raise money for the CFA.
Set for release in early February, Force of Nature: The Dry 2 follows federal agent Aaron Falk (Bana) as he investigates the aftermath of a corporate hiking retreat after a businesswoman is declared missing.
The screening will be held on Monday, January 29 and begin at 5.45pm.
Tickets to the fundraiser are $20 and all funds will go toward the CFA Public Donations Fund which is administered by the CFA Board.
The film, based on the novel by Australian author Jane Harper, is the sequel to the 2021 Australian box office hit The Dry, and was filmed in Victoria around the Otways and the Dandenong Ranges.
The screening is one of two planned CFA fundraising events, one and Lorne and one in Belgrave.
The locations were chosen because of their proximity to the areas where Force of Nature: The Dry 2 was filmed.
CFA chief executive Natalie MacDonald said both adaptations of Harper’s books featured Victoria’s volunteer emergency services.
“CFA was approached by Roadshow Films about providing a fundraising opportunity with their new movie Force of Nature: The Dry 2,” she said.
“All donations will go directly to supporting volunteers with vital equipment and training.
“CFA is extremely grateful to Roadshow Films for supporting our volunteers through this great initiative. It is wonderful to see the recognition for the work our volunteers do.”
Jessa Shields, head of programming at Lorne Theatre, said the team was excited to host the fundraiser.
“The CFA is so important in a community like Lorne, and we’re thrilled to be able to provide an opportunity for locals to catch an early preview screening of an exciting new Australian film – especially one with scenes shot nearby in the Otways – while supporting a worthy cause at the same time.”
The Lorne Theatre is at 78 Mountjoy Parade, Lorne.
