Easter Luncheon reaches new heights
THE Torquay Boardriders Club’s annual Bells Beach Easter Luncheon has reached its greatest heights yet, with hundreds of community members kicking off their Rip Curl Pro festivities in style.
Held at the Jan Juc SLSC last Friday, the event brought together the local surf community, businesses and surfing icons to raise funds to that will go towards the development of the club long into the future.
Cited to be the ‘best one yet’, the event featured surf industry maestro Neil Ridgway as MC, Wadawurrung Traditional Owner Corrina Eccles and Rip Curl team riders Brisa Hennessy, Mason Ho and the legendary Tom Curren as special guests.
Torquay Boardriders Club president Harry Mann said the afternoon function was nothing but non stop fun for all involved.
“It was such a good day and I think it was probably the best one we’ve had to date,” Mr Mann said.
The mixture of guests was the best yet, they complimented each other really well.
“Tom Curren was unbelievable, Mason (Ho) was that entertaining, Brisa (Hennessy) spoke really well and Corinna Eccles was also very special.
“Neil (Ridgway) is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) too, he’s just so good at controlling the room and was so entertaining as MC.
“The reputation of the event has really grown year after year… there was lots of crew from previous years but also plenty of new faces which was really great!”
While an official fundraising total hasn’t been calculated, all proceeds will go into supporting the club’s junior development programs, events and future upgrades.
