Eaton takes the lead
ANGLESEA SLSC’s Lachie Eaton is keen to share as much as he can from his time at the Surf Life Saving National Leadership College, now taking place at Backpackers Base in Sydney.
It is an opportunity Eaton has earned through showing dedication and leadership at the club.
To be accepted into the weeklong program, Eaton had to be endorsed firstly by Anglesea SLSC and Life Saving Victoria before his application was then sent to Surf Life Saving Australia to consider.
Eaton, who is Anglesea SLSC’s chief instructor and also one of their patrol captains, said he anticipates gaining a lot from the program.
“I’m really looking forward to learning new leadership skills and just skills in general that I can take back to Anglesea and use there in my roles and in day to day life.
“I think it will be really good just meeting people from different surf clubs in different states and learning how they do things differently.”
The program looks to develop lifesavers aged between 20 and 30 from a range of clubs and backgrounds.
It looks to develop its participants’ leadership skills and provide them with new opportunities for personal growth. It also looks to ensure they can bring their skills back to their respective clubs.
Each day of the program includes keynote speakers, elective sessions, activities and challenges.
Eaton has been with Anglesea SLSC since he signed up to do the Bronze Medallion six years ago.
