Electric car show rolls into Geelong
THE latest and greatest in electric vehicle manufacturing will be on display at Geelong Showgrounds this weekend as part of a local plan to help more residents transition to EVs.
Geelong Sustainability is hosting a two-pronged environmental workshop through its first Circular Living Show and EV Show ‘n’ Shine on Saturday.
A green-focussed motor show will headline the event, with EVs in a range of makes and models to go on display in a bid to encourage greater uptake in Geelong.
Owners and experts will provide their perspectives and address common anxieties about EVs as part of the event.
“We want to give people the chance for people to take that for a test drive, to learn about it, understand it and debunk all the myths,” Mrs Perrett said.
“We think those sorts of strategies are where we can have a positive impact on demystifying some of the concerns that people might have about how they change and how far they can go.
“We’re going to have cars from every make and model down there and people talking about how to convert.”
The event will also include information about e-bikes and encourage better use of the city’s cycling infrastructure as part of a broader strategy to get people out of cars and take up more sustainable transport options.
Meanwhile, local sustainable businesses will also set up shop to talk about concepts such as upcycling, repairing, gardening, energy efficiency and the share economy.
There’ll also be workshops on home practices like composting, cloth nappies and how to lower energy bills at home.
The event is on this Saturday (April 30) from 10am until 1pm. Entry is free but gold coin donations are encouraged.
