Emergency Holiday Help will now be more accessible

December 31, 2020 BY

Charity boss Bill Mithen is ensuring help is more accessible for those doing it tough this holiday season.

HELP across the region will be more accessible as the festive season proves to be a difficult time for many.

The Give Where You Live Foundation has recognised an increase in financial pressures, loneliness, food insecurity, family violence and general stress that impact many especially over this period.

With the added pressure of overcoming the affects of COVID-19, it is predicted to create a greater need for support these holidays.

In partnership with Barwon Adolescent Taskforce (BATForce), Give Where You Live Foundation have created the “Holiday Help” service listing to ensure those who require assistance can get access to it easily.

Chief executive of Give Where You Live Bill Mithen said the holiday season was extra challenging as many organisations that provided services were closed or working under reduced hours.

Holiday Help aims to provide the contact information of crucial organisations who will continue to support the community over the New Year period.

BatForce executive officer Leigh Bartlett said the new initiative was an attempt to make life easier for people in their time of need.

“The Holiday Help campaign is critical for those across our community who may be struggling.

“We hope by sharing this information widely, we can link people to help when they need it,” she said.

Mr Mithen is urging the community to keep an eye out for one another during this time and to help out wherever possible.

“Let’s make sure everyone in our community has access to the help and support they need this holiday season,” he said.

“We encourage everyone to share the Holiday Help information on social media and through your networks and friends.”

Holiday Help resources can be accessed online at the Give Where You Live Foundation website or by scanning a QR code on posters placed across the region.
