End of an era at Torquay Hotel

November 29, 2017 BY

Monday october 30 marked the end of an era for the Torquay Hotel with owner Simon Vickers-Willis selling the pub he had owned for 19 years.

Manager andrew Routley, who has had more than 17 years with the business, will also be moving on to the Gold diggers arms in Geelong later this month.

In an interview late last year, andrew said his favourite highlights at the venue were when Torquay Hotel hosted big names for live music nights.

“a great memory I have is of 600 people singing along to ‘Horses’ with daryl Braithwaite.”

over the years, Torquay Hotel has hosted acts such as Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Pete Murray and Tim Rogers.

as Torquay becomes more popular with every summer, the new owners are sure to have their hands full at the successful venue.

Most of the existing staff will remain, with opening hours also remaining the same.
