EnergyAustralia community grants open
APPLICATIONS for EnergyAustralia’s Community Grants Program have opened, with individual funding up to $10,000 available.
The grants are available to support sustainable and resilient community programs.
EnergyAustralia customer care leader Matthew Walsh said the company had been part of the Geelong community for 10 years and its people were passionate about investing back into the community.
“Each year we distribute $20,000 in grants to community groups and we encourage applications from across the City of Greater Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast Shire and further west in Colac and Warrnambool,” he said.
The community grants will be based on the following criteria:
- Education – Projects aimed at promoting education, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and maths, including programs that support career and skill development. These could include energy literacy programs, educational resources, skills training and more.
- Sustainability – Aimed at promoting sustainability and energy efficiency. Examples could include sustainable gardens and landscapes, appliance swaps, infrastructure and energy efficiency upgrades.
- Resilient communities – Providing economic growth, tourism and social inclusion in local communities.
- Mental health initiatives, community events, sports, parks and recreation activities could be included.
To be successful, all initiatives must make a positive impact within their local community and must be completed within six months of the grant being awarded.
Since the beginning of the program in 2016, more than $160,000 in community grants and sponsorships have been provided within the Geelong region by EnergyAustralia.
Applications are open now and close on September 30.
