LOCALS are being invited to put their art in the limelight and enter the 2025 Surf Coast Shire Community Calendar Competition.

Artists of all ages will be in the running to be among 13 pieces chosen to feature in the 2025 calendar.

Locals can enter categories including open 2D, open 3D, youth and child.

Cr Gary Allen encouraged aspiring and established artists to let their works shine bright.

“One of the best things about this competition is that it offers accessibility to artists of all ages and across diverse mediums,” he said,

“We love seeing the variety in works submitted and getting a feeling for the inspirations behind them.

“Even if they are not among the 13 chosen for the calendar, being featured as part of the exhibition can provide a substantial thrill and valuable exposure.”

Mr Allen said the shire was hoping to see more entries in the 3D category this year.

“This includes sculptures, ceramics and textiles.

“Works already installed in private or public spaces can be submitted via photograph.”

All eligible entries will be included in a special exhibition at the Anglesea Arts Space in October.

A panel of judges will select the 12 works that will accompany the calendar months.

Winners will be announced at a community event to launch the exhibition on October 11.

Visitors will also be able to cast votes in a People’s Choice Award to determine the work to grace the calendar cover.

Each of the 13 artists to be featured will receive a $300 cash prize, and acknowledgement in the calendar.

Artworks must be no larger than 100cm x 100cm and must be ready to hang.

Entries are restricted to one per person.
