EYEING THE WEEKEND

April 14, 2016 BY

FRIDAY 15/4
A shift in heart

Woodbin Theatre presents The Shifting Heart at the Lilian Stott Centre in Geelong. The story is set at 4pm on Christmas Eve sometime in the 1950s in the Collingwood backyard of the Bianchi family home. We see the interaction between neighbours in a Melbourne suburb that has become home to low-income Aussie families and immigrants from war-weary Europe. The play illustrates some attitudes towards immigrants in the past, and how some of those attitudes still exist today.
Show dates vary from April 15-30. Visit gpac.org.au for tickets.

SATURDAY 16/4
Yasin at Aireys Pub

Indie/roots and folk artist Yasin Leflef will deliver his heartfelt lyrics combined with folky guitar melodies and his unique voice at Aireys Pub. Yasin has been busking the streets of Melbourne in between shows, honing in on his material and with a steadily growing following, more and more people are starting to jump on board with Yasin’s journey. He is set to record and release his debut EP later in 2016.
Doors at 8.30pm. Entry is free.

SUNDAY 17/4
Final Cowrie Market

The last Cowrie Market of the season is on Sunday, from 10am-3pm at Elephant Walk on Torquay’s Esplanade. It’s the last chance before winter to stock up on a wide range of handmade gifts, homewares, clothing and plants. The line-up of talent taking the stage includes Rachael Brennan, Zeffa Music, De Porsal, Sam Hanson and more. Food trucks and stalls will also be on site, offering delicious world cuisine, snacks, coffees and sweet treats. Cowrie Market will return again in September.
