THOUSANDS of comic lovers and toy collectors will turn out today (Sunday, July 27) for the fourth edition of the Geelong Comic and Toy Fair.
More than 40 vendors from across the state will exhibit top comics, toys, collectibles, replica items and more at the Geelong West Town Hall.
Event organiser Evin Bryant said excitement was high following the success of their last event in April.
“This will be our fourth edition, and the early goals with it was to just get it up and running and to have people in Geelong know it’s a worthwhile event to go to.
“We’ve certainly achieved that, the volume of people at the event in April was enormous, and it’s gone above and beyond our expectations in regard to community engagement.
“85 per cent of the crowd are local people, and it’s just really exciting to see the joy that this event brings. It brings a sense of belonging and community.”
Mr Bryant said the event will have something for any enthusiast, whether it’s an awesome new comic, a top toy, new hot wheels or epic trading cards.
“It’s a big mix of private collectors as well as vendors who have their own retail space. It brings change. There’s always something new at the fair!
“A big thanks to the City of Greater Geelong for helping us to put it on. This is a winter special, and they’ve been terrific in helping us to get six to twelve months ahead of where we wanted to be.”
