Fans follow The Script at Mt Duneed Estate

IRISH band The Script lit up the night in its first appearance at Mt Duneed Estate in the latest instalment of the A Day on the Green concert series.

Touring internationally to support last year’s album Satellites, The Script drew a loud and appreciative crowd to the winery.

 

Opening with furious percussion from fill-in drummer Adam Falkner on You Won’t Feel a Thing, the quartet – including new lead guitarist Ben Weaver – charged through a setlist of songs from throughout the band’s 20-year career.

 

Frontman Danny O’Donoghue was in excellent form despite the hot conditions – “An Irishman here is like a snowman in an oven,” he remarked – dedicating At Your Feet to his new wife and If You Could See Me Now to late band member Mark Sheehan.

 

Earlier in the day, English singer-songwriter Calum Scott started with slower songs akin to his hit Dancing on My Own – “It is my honour and duty to depress you for 45 minutes,” he joked early on – but hit the afterburner midway into his set and had the crowd bouncing to electronica-flavoured tunes Whistle and Where Are You Now and a solid cover of Maroon 5’s This Love.

 

 

Other acts on the day were Montaigne, X Ambassadors and Lottie Gallagher.

Fatboy Slim will headline the next A Day on the Green concert at Mt Duneed Estate, to be held on March 22.
