Tactical AGA senior agronomist Wayne Firth will host a Pasture Open Day next week.

LOCAL farmers will be back at Mount Duneed next week for Tactical AGA’s highly anticipated annual Pasture Open Day.

Hosted by senior agronomist Wayne Firth at Tactical AGA’s Dickens Road warehouse and demonstration site, the open day will be held on Thursday, September 25 and offer insights into improving pastures and productivity on farms.

Over the past five years, Tactical AGA agronomists have developed pasture blends specifically for the Surf Coast and surrounds at the Mount Duneed trial site.

An expansion to the site in 2023, enabled the organisation to throw its doors open for field days, providing locals an opportunity to inspect a wide range of annual and perennial pastures in one location.

“The trial site is of a significant scale and that offers farmers a firsthand look at how our pasture products perform in this environment.”

Tactical AGA’s Wayne Firth explaining the trial plots to students from Marcus Oldham Ag College at the previous open day.

Firth said next week’s Pasture Open Day will showcase 50 different pasture systems, a perennial pasture persistence demonstration, and new for 2025, over-sowing demonstrations.

“The site is unique to the region, and the management team has also organised a major raffle draw, with all funds raised being donated to the local charity Foundation 61.

“In addition, the event will host the official preview of a new perennial grass variety Align.”

The event will be supported by DLF Seeds, Australia’s largest forage seed company.
