Female role models await spotlight
WOMEN from the City of Greater Geelong whose contributions to the region deserve acknowledgement will be honoured in the Women in Community Life Awards later this year.
Nominations are now open for the annual awards, which recognise women’s achievements across five categories – First Nations Woman, Human Rights and Gender Equality, Living with a Disability, Leading Gender Equality in Sport and Leadership in Women’s Health.
Each award recipient will be celebrated at the city’s International Women’s Day celebration on March 6, with Olympian and former senator Nova Peris OAM in the line-up as guest speaker.
Geelong mayor Stephanie Asher said the council was proud to celebrate inspiring leaders in the Women in Community Life Awards.
“The City of Greater Geelong is lucky to have many women who go to extraordinary lengths to make the community a better place for others,” Cr Asher said.
“I encourage all residents to take a look at the award categories and nominate someone they know.”
The recipient of the major Women in Community Life Award will be selected from the category winners by a selection panel.
